Scholastic "Thank You" Party - 2010
On May 20, approximately 80 students from all over Chesterfield and Colonial Heights who participate in the scholastic clubs were treated to an end-of-year party to thank them for all of their hard work. Each student had the opportunity to participate in two rounds of laser tag, and were treated to pizza and drink in the intermissions. We’ll put a shout-out here to CiCi’s Pizza for giving us a great deal on the pizzas and for providing some gift card prizes to the individual winners! Detective Conner even came (from her new assignment) to see the students she had been working with all throughout the school year. Students had the opportunity to gang up on her as she was able to participate in one of the laser tag rounds. So we don’t leave them out, “Thank you” to Lazer Quest for helping make the event a success. Everyone had a great time and the school year ended on a GREAT note.
For those not familiar with the Scholastic Program, students help their schools come up with ways to reach the students with the Crime Solvers message on their own campuses. In a recent campaign, students helped Crime Solvers get the word out about text-tipping and how it worked. Two clubs, Swift Creek Middle School and Tomahawk Creek Middle School, set up tables at basketball games and passed out flyers explaining how programming phones ahead of time with the Crime Solvers numbers can come in handy when the need to give a tip is immediate. The events were a success and many phones were programmed. WATCH OUT, you criminals, we have a lot of potential witnesses out there!
Scholastic "Thank You" Party - 2009
On Wednesday, May 13, 2009, students from the Scholastic Clubs all over Chesterfield and Colonial Heights were given a token of appreciation from the Crime Solvers Board of Directors in the form of a SUPER event…Lazer Quest. Club members, proudly displaying their Crime Solvers T-shirts, were treated to pizza, soda and water while taking turns in the huge Lazer Quest arena. Those who brought their own quarters took advantage of the arcade games and the foosball and air hockey tables as they patiently waited their turn. More than 80 young people participated. Even the detectives, Jacquie Conner and Kevin Bacon, participated in one of the laser matches. As the last Lazer Tag group was headed to the arena to compete, four door prizes were awarded to randomly drawn students. Three students won a CiCi Pizza gift card, and one student won a pass to Swaders in Prince George. The students were exemplary in their behavior, and the event was smooth as silk.
"Thank you" Lazer Quest for the arena, CiCi Pizza for helping us with the cost of the pizza and for the gift cards, Ukrop's for the water and Swaders for the gift card. And "THANK YOU" to the STUDENTS who helped us make it through another year of the Scholastic Crime Solvers program. See You All NEXT YEAR!!
